Google has updated the way you share your review link. No more convoluted “creation” of the link. Once you create and verify your My Business page it’s there. No BS or hoops.

Customer reviews are an essential part of online marketing for any business. The ability for customers to leave feedback and feel heard goes a long way in building a strong brand. If your customers feel like you’re listening to them, they will more likely to return and recommend your business to others, even if their experience with your brand might not have been stellar.

Even a not-so-great review can be an opportunity to improve your brand. Don’t just let them leave their review and go on their way. Make sure you respond to the good and not-so-good reviews. Thank your customers, regardless of their review. Offer support and solutions to the ones who might not have been 100% happy with their experience. Always make sure that your customers have a touch point for customer service issues. If they have a person or at least an email address to reach out to, they’ll be less likely to turn to Google and potentially hurt your reputation over a misunderstanding. That way, you get to solve the problem and then direct them to your review page to get input on your goods / services as well as your customer service. Win-win.

NOTE: You may have to scroll down the page a little ways to find the review link in the right hand column.

Let’s get started …

Hey there, this was a great tip. I got the same error on FB. I was particularly interested in this because a client uses Google reviews but we find that it takes so many steps. I was hoping this would work flawlessly. Unfortunately, you still have to login to your Google account before you can leave a review. If you are already logged in on a computer it isn’t a problem. I tried on my phone and if you are logged in it works. Seems bizarre you can’t just leave a review.

I’ve searched and can’t find a reason why you get that error on Facebook. I would love to find out why it doesn’t always work correctly. Seems ridiculous that the process is so convoluted and then doesn’t even work.

I’ve updated this post because Google updated this process and it’s SO much better! No more error. No need to create a link. It’s right there on your My Business page! Woohoo!
