More about the project and client.

Spencer Armstrong reached out to have a logo designed for his new business venture, Armstrong Land Management. I didn’t want to give him the same utilitarian designs everyone else was using. You know … trees with a digger of some sort in a powerful  perspective ready to rip down all of nature. I wanted it to be classic and simple, but also modern. Spencer opted to package 250 business cards with his logo design and saved some cash in the process.

Project Scope

I was asked for a logo design, style guide and business cards. I also provided, as always, mockups and examples of real life usage of the various logo concepts I presented to the client.

Logo Design

After his three logo concepts were delivered, the client quickly chose his final design. With zero revisions! He loved is as is. I used a colorful, but mature color palette consisting of shades of orange (as per the client’s wishes) and blues. I used our local landscape (at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains) as inspiration and went with evergreen trees silhouetted against a sunset above and a blue lake below. I chose a modern serif typeface to pair with the slightly vintage feeling graphic elements.

Business Cards

After the logo design was complete we moved onto the design of Spencer’s business cards. We took that beautiful logo and put it on both sides of the card in two of its variations. Full color on the front and an alternative, single color horizontal version on the back. The orange shades on the front really making the cards stand out.
